Our yacht, being the main element of Born2sail programme, is a two mast staysail schooner. This type of rig guarantees good nautical abilities, both in beating to windward and downwind. Moreover, it is easy and safe to handle. Designed in the early seventies of 20th century, it was built in Surrey shipyard, as a fifth ship in series consisting of nine vessels that type. The hull, deck and superstructure have been made of reinforced concrete. It is the ideal construction material for large ocean yachts. It is neither sensitive to osmosis, irritating on laminate boats, nor it does not rust, what is rather common in yachts made of steel. It is also resistant to fouling and shipworms. Moreover, good heat isolation of that material makes that yacht efficient and comfortable both in tropical climate and in trips in colder waters. Despite over thirty years of exploitation in Caribbean, Alaska and Mediterranean, after three extensive renovations, the hull is still in excellent condition. This is why we offer you a trip just with this vessel. In 1988 the standing rig has been exchanged for new and wooden masts for aluminium one. Yacht was equipped with new engine. In 2003-2005 it was thoroughly converted, the engine, standing rig and steering gear was renovated. During last year we made modernisation aimed at increasing comfort and safety, as well as adaptation for our project.
